Ribbon Star Wedding Quilt

Last weekend I was able to give my niece her wedding quilt. Her shower was supposed to be in April but it was cancelled due to the COVID situation. Their wedding is scheduled for July 25th but they’re unsure if it will even happen. It’s so sad that so many gatherings and accomplishments can’t be celebrated properly.

One Monthly Goal- February

I stumbled across a great monthly challenge hosted by Elm Street Quilts. It's called One Monthly Goal or OMG for short. It's a great opportunity to make myself accountable for one thing, each month, with no great pressure. The OMG could be as simple as getting a binding sewn onto a quilt that's been waiting for one for 6 months. (not that I actually have one of those, but you get the idea)

My OMG for February is to quilt and bind this Meadowland baby quilt. The little one this is going to won't be arriving until the end of the month so I'm hoping I'll have it ready to be mailed as soon as she's born.

The backing fabric from Tula Pink was the focus fabric I used to pull fat quarters from my stash. I'm in love with the print.

I'll be back to post at the end of the month with photos of the finished quilt.

A Finish for the Week- Baby Quilts Are the Best

Just this morning I washed and photographed this sweet baby quilt. It is made with a free pattern from Moda Bake Shop and Big Sky by Annie Brady for Moda. It's perfect for a little boy. About a year ago I made the same quilt for another little boy using another color way. You can see that quilt HERE .

I love the backing fabric! I'm sorry I didn't stash a few more yards before it disappeared.  I'm linking up with:

{ I Have Quilter's ADD }

I'm really wondering if this condition exists.

Just a two days ago I picked fabric for my next quilt project, 

Sweet Marie by Woodberry Way.

I put a photo up on Instagram showing the pretty 

Vintage Picnic fabric and the pattern.

I even went so far as to iron all my fat quarters in preparation for 

cutting on my next free evening.

Then by last night ,I decided this is a very springy collection of fabrics and since the winter is coming I need to make a winter quilt.

Oh look! I have the perfect alternative. Snowman Gatherings II by Primitive Gatherings.

As of now, this is my next project. I'm going to get started right away so I don't change my mind again.

That's how long this UFO has been hanging around. It was all cut out but has spent the better part of three years in a project box. Why? I'm not sure. It may have had something to do with the 780 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" red squares that needed to be sewn on to 195 2 1/2" x 4 1/2" rectangles.

Actually, it had everything to do with that.

{ I've Been Busy }

Since last I wrote....

1) Finished the Manly Log Cabin quilt top Made the binding. Sent it off to the quilter.

2) Finished the Lollies Christmas quilt top. Made the binding. Sent it off to the quilter.

3) Made another Log Cabin 16x16 throw pillow.
4) Between all that made another disappearing 9 patch for the little girl from Joplin, MO. Details HERE
Her grandma sent me a message that her original quilt was so worn that it could no longer be mended. I had enough of the same fabric and made her a duplicate.
5) Pieced a Moda Love quilt top. I'm not looking forward to basting this beast so to the side it gets pushed.

Lollies came back from the quilter yesterday. I'm so happy with the finished project. The binding is already made so my Saturday project will be sewing it on and hand stitching it down. Then a label and it's really finished.

Confessions of a Fabric Addict

{ Wish I was a Farm Girl Sampler Quilt- The Beginning }

Due to circumstances beyond my control, namely way too many projects in line

 ahead of it, I'm just starting the 6" blocks from Lori Holt's book 

Farm Girl Vintage.

I've had the book since it was released, occasionally taking it out of the closet to drool over the cute quilts inside. I knew from the first time I saw the cover that I wanted to make the sampler quilt.

I've been looking and waiting for the perfect fabric. I like to plan ahead , know exactly what I'll be using and order everything to have on hand.

One of my favorite fabric designers, Joanna of Fig Tree & Co, released a fabric line called Farmhouse. I'd say that's a pretty darn perfect collection to use for my {Wish I was a Farm Girl } sampler quilt. I'm also going to incorporate leftovers from her line Strawberry Fields, one of my all-time favorite fabric lines.

I ordered a fat eighth bundle of Farmhouse, backing, binding and border yardage from Farmhouse, and 4 yards of Milk solid from Farmhouse for the background and sashing. With the leftover Strawberry Fields I should have enough to complete this quilt.

My goal~ at least two blocks each week. That really shouldn't be too difficult to squeeze in. {wishful thinking?}My quilty list of to-do's is more realistic than previous years so I'm hoping to see several finishes in 2016.

{Wish I was a Farm Girl} sampler quilt will hopefully be one of them.

{ The Final Quilt of 2015 }

I finished my sweet granddaughter's quilt two days before Christmas. With all the other activity going on-----baking , cooking, cleaning ---- I didn't get to make or attach her quilt label. I promised it will get done before the end of January.

I quilted it simply so it would remain nice and soft after washing. She was a hit with Mom.
This is my last quilt finish of 2015.
I'm hoping for a busy and productive 2016!
